Why is movement and exercise so important?
Here are 7 reasons to get you motivated to move:
1. Weight Management:
Put simply, any activity will help you to burn calories. This doesn’t just mean working out or going for a run, this includes taking the stairs instead of the elevator, going for a walk, or enjoying a bike ride, which are all key to weight management.
2. Combating health conditions and diseases:
Keeping blood circulating and heart pumping has shown to combat metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, depression, anxiety, arthritis, and many more conditions.
3. A good mood:
Stimulating brain chemistry increases brain function which makes you happier, more relaxed, increases your confidence, holds you accountable to exercise, boosts your self esteem, and puts you in an all-round a better mood.
4. Your energy:
Increasing strength and endurance leaves you more efficient to complete your daily activities, not to mention improves the ability for you lungs and heart to function, which will reinvigorate and revitalize your body and your life.
5. Better sleep:
Deepleting your daily energy levels with movement will motivate you to head to bed sooner and aid you to have deeper and more beneficial sleep.
6. Improve your sex life:
Exercise is shown to increase hormonal production vital to the body's ability to function. One of these hormones is our sex hormone resulting in an increased arousal and desire. Also, the increased confidence and self-esteem wouldn't hurt :)
7. Fun:
Exercise is only fun if you make it! Even in current situations with lockdown, movement can be shared and enjoyed in a social and safe environment including running, biking, at the gym or a sport. Just make sure you do it.
The bottom line: regular activity of 30-45 minutes 3 to 4 times a week will greatly benefit your quality of life!
